Kate and Adam – Big Sur Coastal Minimony

Kate and Adam – Big Sur Coastal Minimony

Some elopements are truly spur of the moment, others are a bit more planned out as was the case with Kate and Adam. The couple left their Toronto home for their intimate Big Sur micro wedding to be held a few days after Christmas and were joined by parents and immediate family. Upon arriving in California, we realized a change of venue was necessary as their original Pfeiffer beach wedding location was no longer accessible.

Fortunately, we have plenty of alternative options so we moved the ceremony further north at Ribera rock, atop Carmel river state beach. Big Sur is absolutely incredible and the town itself – the whole stretch of central California coastline is to be honest – but with it’s dramatic beauty, also comes occasional unruly winds and weather and sometimes, a landslide or two. rugged and wild and rugged, barren and windswept, and serene with kelp-forested bays that serve as sanctuaries for marine life…in a nutshell:  a great place to escape to for an intimate wedding.

We’ve been fortunate to photograph quite a few intimate/elopement type wedding ceremonies and they’re quite nice in that you can quickly change the script for the day without much hassle – as was the case for Adam and Kate – and it worked out beautifully. The ceremony was sweet and compact and included a lot of kissing which was so cute.  We love how people are able to fully relax during their elopements.
