Dalya and Alejandro's redwoods elopement at the Sequoia Park Zoo Sky Walk in Eureka was a ceremony up in the redwood canopy in August 2025, with an owl encounter and a hibachi dinner waiting for them when they drove back south. They built the day across two places: getting ready in Garberville, then the hour-and-change drive north to Eureka for the evening ceremony, then back home.
The Sky Walk opens only for private events after the zoo closes, so when they arrived the path was lit and the redwoods were theirs alone. A florist from Misty Mountain Flora had done the bouquet, and cake from Ramone's Bakery, a tart-berry cake finished with pearls, was waiting at the house for after.

A Humboldt Redwoods Elopement in the Canopy
The ceremony was on the elevated walkway of the Sky Walk at Sequoia Park Zoo, a path that runs up into the redwood canopy, reached on foot along a lit trail after the gates had closed for the evening. Alejandro walked in first and waited at the top. Then Dalya came down the path with both her parents, one on each arm.
An officiant from Weddings by Elvia led a short ceremony up in the trees, the redwoods rising on every side, no crowd below, the last of the day's light still coming through the canopy. When it was over they were married in Humboldt's old-growth forest, with the whole walkway to themselves.
