Getting Ready Near the Dana Point Coast

Elizabeth got ready close to the water, a couple of minutes from the gazebo, in a floral robe with her people around her. Beach Bridal Beauty handled the hair and makeup through the early afternoon — her dark hair left long and loose in soft waves — and by the time the getting-ready photos began, the look was done and the dress was waiting: an off-the-shoulder lace gown with a fitted bodice, a full skirt, and a long veil.

Isaac got ready separately at his family's home before heading to the bluff, into a light-grey suit with a light-blue bow tie and a small round boutonniere at the lapel. They'd chosen to skip a first look — the plan was for Elizabeth and Isaac to see each other for the first time as she came down the aisle.

The Cliffside Gazebo Ceremony Above Capistrano Beach

The ceremony was at the Palisades Gazebo, on a small paved terrace above the cliff, the ocean and the coastline stretching out below and a clay-tiled roofline and palms behind. The aisle ran between two white classical pillars, each topped with a big arrangement — white hydrangeas, blush blooms, blue delphinium, purple stock, and trailing greenery. Jim Patton officiated. Isaac stood first with the wedding party, and Elizabeth walked in last on the arm of Isaac's mother, in navy lace, carrying a loose bouquet of lavender sweet peas, blue delphinium, white roses, and amaranthus.
