An Oceanfront Ranch Micro Wedding at Spring Ranch, Mendocino

Vows in the Mendocino Coastal Meadow

The ceremony was outside, in the flat meadow north of the event barn, where the grass runs toward the cliff and the Pacific fills the whole horizon. Rev. Richleigh Powers officiated, standing with the couple as their small group of family and friends watched from chairs set on the open ground. There was nothing built up around it, just the two of them, the people who had traveled to the coast, and the water behind them.

For a wedding pulled together from another state, it held completely once everyone was standing in that meadow. The remoteness that had made the planning harder was the entire point once the vows started.

Portraits Among the Eucalyptus on the Mendocino Coast Ranch

After the ceremony the group moved through the property for photos, the meadow, the weathered barn, and the ring of old eucalyptus that stands beside it. Those trees are part of the ranch's history: the families who settled here in the 1850s planted some of the earliest eucalyptus on the Mendocino coast, and the grove by the barn is now among the oldest on the California coastline. Elise and Noah took their portraits under it, with the ocean light coming in low off the water, before the family gathered in for group photos.

Dinner in the Spring Ranch Event Barn

Dinner was in the event barn as the fog rolled in, the tall room with its brick floor and chandeliers, the tables set close so the whole party stayed together. A local caterer sent out the meal, wine went around, and toasts came between courses while the coast went dark past the barn doors.

Later came cake and a first dance, and the night carried on with music inside the barn while the ranch settled into the quiet that comes from being this far out on the coast. What Elise and Noah wanted was an intimate day in a place that felt entirely their own, eighteen acres, the ocean, and the people who came all that way, and that is what the day was.
