Portraits Under the Rotunda

Family photos and couple portraits followed the ceremony and made use of some of City Hall's iconic settings — the marble staircase sweeping down toward the entrance, the gilded railings, the light coming through the dome. For a moment, the two of them even had the top of the staircase to themselves.

Once the couple were done with their portraits in and around City Hall, everyone headed to the Mission district, and a short drive to Fable and its covered garden patio. Fenced in redwood, full of palms and ferns, strung with lights and warmed by heaters, the all-weather space brought a cozy, homey atmosphere for the intimate group of friends and family.

Guests wandered to the bar while the couple made their way over, then everyone sat down together at a single, wooden table centered in the patio. Orange napkins sat at each place, with low arrangements of pink and coral garden roses running down the middle. Jaimee and William began things with a champagne toast and some words of gratitude and love for each other, and those there to spend the day with them. Their toast prompted a few other impromptu speeches.

Lunch ran long and easy in that leafy back room, with a few key space-heaters keeping things cozy when Harold rolled in off the Pacific, as is typical for summer afternoons in San Francisco. They cut their cake right at the table: a single round chiffon-style cake from Whole Cakes, dusted with pale green matcha powder, with a ring cut through the center and piped rosettes edged in matcha green and orange. The kids pressed up close to the front. A morning that began under City Hall's cavernous dome ended intimately around a shared table in the Mission, all went exactly as planned.
