Jenny and Chris's big sur cliffside elopement for just the two of them was at China Point Overlook on the Big Sur coast in March 2021, no chairs, no guest list, just the two of them and the Pacific at their backs. They drove out along Highway 1, said their vows on the edge of the cliff, and stayed for portraits as the afternoon light moved across the water.

China Point is an off-the-beaten-path pull-out along the coast where the redwood hills drop to steep cliffs and the ocean opens up with nothing built in front of it. It was the right place for a day that was only theirs.

Getting Ready for a Big Sur Coast Elopement

The morning was for getting ready. Jenny into her dress, Chris into his suit, the two of them readying for a day that had no schedule and no one to wait on but each other.

Then they drove out along the coast toward China Point, the Pacific opening up wider the closer they got.

Cliffside Vows at China Point Overlook

Ken Robins officiated the ceremony at China Point Overlook, standing on the cliff with the open ocean behind them. It was just Jenny and Chris, no chairs, no aisle, the two of them and the officiant on the edge of the coast. They read their vows and exchanged rings with the water below.

With no one else there, every word went straight to each other.
