Family portraits and couple photos happened right after the ceremony, among the redwoods on the ten-acre estate. Sand Rock Farm is a restored 1880s property, the site of Santa Cruz County's first winery, and its grove, with a small trickling fountain and light that falls in patches between the trees, is where every portrait session on this property ends up.

Then everyone moved to the barn for passed hors d'oeuvres and the bar while the couple finished with the photographer. Oogly and Charley came along for most of it. The farm's included rental items, café lighting, wood chairs, wine barrel cocktail tables, and rustic wood bars, were already set through the barn, which meant the space was ready the moment the last family grouping wrapped and the doors opened.

A Family-Style Spring Dinner in the Barrel Room

Dinner was family-style in the barrel room, each table set with a bottle of champagne and one of sparkling cider. Brandon's dad announced the couple's entrance, the best man gave his toast, and Veronica and Brandon thanked everyone themselves.

Their first dance was to 'Love Is Here to Stay.' They cut a dark chocolate and strawberry cake to close the night, twenty people, two dogs, a day that started with a tea ceremony and ended with dancing in a redwood barn in Aptos. Sand Rock Farm lodges up to eighteen guests in rooms on the property, so the people who stayed did not have far to go when the dancing finally stopped.
